Mere minutes have passed between my first blog about the weather warning and the BBC puts up this news item. It definitely goes to show that the weather warning that has been sent out means business and it not to be taking lightly. The news item deals with the fact that a tree has collapsed onto the house of the former ambassador to Venezuela and Chile. The ambassador had to be rescued by firefighters since he was trapped in his own house after the tree came down through the roof.
One could definitely argue with the news worthiness of this item but aside from the fact that it feels a bit like a gossip news item it definitely links with the weather warning and the severe weather coming up in the UK. These kind of warning attract several news items like these but also news items about the global environment and such. I just hope the severe weather will not turn out into casualties or people abusing the weather for their political movements, it’s already quite bad and no one is in need of people throwing in hindsight, what-ifs and trying to blame it on other things. Nature does its work and can be frightening like always.
